A Pakistani woman’s dance video is going viral on social media. She is not only a mother of three but also divorced. Azima Ahsan, a Pakistani woman, has inspired internet users with her dance video, sharing a powerful message about divorce, social stigma, and self-confidence.
Azima, a divorced mother of three, was seen dancing at an event to Coke Studio Pakistan’s song Mughron La. Dressed in traditional attire, she danced beautifully while the audience cheered for her.
In her post caption, Azima challenged society’s views on divorce with a strong message.
She wrote: “In Pakistani society, divorce is treated like a death sentence, especially for women. People told me my life was over, I would regret it, I would be miserable, and happiness? Forget about it. Even now, people criticize me. But guess what? I still dance. I still smile. Life is not as bad as they told me—it’s actually the opposite.”
Azima emphasized that staying in an unhappy marriage is worse than divorce:
“We see divorce as something bad, but it should be seen as a new beginning. Yes, it is painful and lonely. But staying in a marriage where you can’t even breathe? That is much worse. Being divorced is better than being stuck in an unhappy marriage. I didn’t choose this lightly—I never wanted to be divorced. But for me and my three children, it was freedom. Even for my ex-husband, it was the best decision for both of us.”
Encouraging other women, she said:
“Marriage should be built on love and respect, not fear of social judgment. I see so many Pakistani women sacrificing themselves just to avoid the ‘divorced’ label. To them, I say: Your happiness matters. Your peace matters. Life moves on. Don’t be afraid.”
Ending her message, Azima said:
“Two years after my divorce, I am proof that you can cry, heal, and then dance like no one is watching—all at the same time.”
