Is Farshi Shalwar Suitable for Everyone? Maria B and HSY Face Off

Renowned designers Maria B and HSY have come face to face over the Farshi Shalwar trend, sparking a new debate on social media.

The Pakistani fashion industry continuously introduces new trends, and recently, the Farshi Shalwar has taken social media by storm.

Many fashion brands have incorporated this traditional outfit into their new collections, while bloggers and fashion enthusiasts are actively discussing it online.

Recently, Pakistan’s famous fashion designer Maria B shared her opinion on the Farshi Shalwar, after which renowned designer HSY presented a conflicting perspective. Their differing views have ignited a fresh debate among fashion lovers.

Maria B’s Opinion on Farshi Shalwar

In a detailed video, Maria B explained that Farshi Shalwar is not suitable for everyone and looks best on specific body types.

She stated, “Farshi Shalwar does not suit everyone. For example, I would love to see my teenage daughter wearing it, but I wouldn’t prefer to wear it all the time myself, as I am over 45 years old.”

She further added that this trend looks better on tall and slim girls, while it may not be as flattering for shorter or fuller-figured women.

HSY’s Opposing View

In response, HSY disagreed with Maria B and claimed that Farshi Shalwar is perfect for every woman.

The Pakistani designer said, “This fashion suits all women and aligns perfectly with Pakistani culture.”

He further added, “I believe every woman should own a Farshi Shalwar because it is a beautiful and traditional outfit. Women in Pakistan come from different backgrounds—some prefer modern clothing, while others like traditional styles. However, one thing is common: they all want to look elegant and graceful. Farshi Shalwar is a stylish and suitable option for them.”

HSY also explained that Farshi Shalwar is not limited to short kurtas; it pairs beautifully with longer shirts as well. He suggested that curvier women can wear it with long, flowy tops and still look stunning.

Social Media Reactions

Following the contrasting statements from HSY and Maria B, social media users also started sharing their opinions.

Some agreed with Maria B, arguing that Farshi Shalwar is not practical and will fade as a short-lived trend. Others supported HSY, saying that it is a graceful and beautiful outfit that all Pakistani women should embrace.
