Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, a renowned Pakistani writer and director known for famous plays such as ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho’ and ‘Pyare Afzal,’ has revealed details regarding his marriage to Faysal Quraishi’s ex-wife.
The revelation came during an interview on a podcast, where the renowned author revealed long-running rumors about his personal life. For the first time, Khalil addressed the rumors, denying any involvement in Faysal Quraishi’s divorce. “I can recite the ‘Kalma’ that the reason for their divorce was not me,” Khalil said, underlining that the couple parted for other personal reasons.
He revealed that he attempted to arbitrate between Faysal and his first wife in order to save their marriage. “I fought with Faysal and his mother to make his marriage work, but his mother told me, ‘This divorce has been postponed because of you, but it had to happen.'”
Khalil also commented on his bond with Faysal, describing him as a “dear friend” and appreciating his acting abilities. He recalls fighting for Faysal to earn a big role early in his career after being pleased by his audition.
When asked about his future marriage to Faysal’s ex-wife, Khalil stated, “I married his wife later on, but that’s another story.” I wasn’t even financially stable enough at the time to attract anyone. People need to understand that their divorce was not due to me. I only met his wife once or twice before they split up.”
The celebrated writer expressed his anger with the rumors, demanding that the audience refrain from creating unwarranted analogies between his real life and his work, such as ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho.’ “That drama was not inspired by my life,” he explained.
Khalil’s forthright words have prompted internet debate, with many praising his honesty and efforts to clear the air on this sensitive topic.
