Muslim actor faced backlash for consuming alcohol during the holy month of Ramadan

Renowned Indian actor Raza Murad is facing severe criticism on social media after a video of him consuming alcohol went viral.

According to Indian media reports, a recent video of Raza Murad surfaced on social media, showing him drinking alcohol and celebrating with a group of people.

As soon as the video spread like wildfire, social media users strongly criticized the actor for drinking alcohol and celebrating during the holy month of Ramadan despite being a Muslim.

However, Raza Murad has now clarified in the comments section of the video that the footage was taken on a film set in Delhi and is actually a scene from a movie. He was not consuming alcohol but was simply in character.

Raza Murad explained that the celebration in the video was for his character’s birthday, not his own, as his real birthday falls in November.

In his comment, he wrote: “Please do not think that this is a birthday celebration or any kind of party. The viral footage is from a movie scene that was filmed a few days ago in Chhatarpur, Delhi. In these scenes, my character’s birthday is being celebrated.”

The senior actor further wrote: “Without knowing the details of the incident, you assumed that I was celebrating my birthday in March. However, you are currently in March, and my birthday is in November. It appears to you that I am openly drinking alcohol during Ramadan, which is completely false. This is just a scene from a shoot and nothing more.”

It is worth mentioning that the video was shared by actor Kiran Kumar, who was also part of the shoot.

Raza Murad’s career spans several decades, and he has been a part of numerous Bollywood films, including Gangubai Kathiawadi, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Khuda Kasam, and The King of Devagiri Rudhramadevi, among many others.
