Azba is a new Pakistani viral hit who rose to prominence through Samaa TV’s new debate show Mukalma, hosted by Ayesha Jahanzeb, who is most known for her controversial show Chocolate Times, which aired on A+. Azba made news in electronic, social, and digital media after criticizing motivational speaker Sahil Adeem for his remarks against women. Sahil Adeem stated that the majority of Pakistani women are illiterate (Jahil). This sparked a controversy among social media users. Some sided with the debate panel, while the bulk of feminists and social activists backed Azba, who requested Sahil Adeem to apologize for using the name Jahil for women.
Azba recently uploaded a video in which she addressed all of those who backed her argument with Samaa TV’s panel. She stated, “In Pakistan, 55% of the population is female, yet motivational speaker Sahil Adeem used the term Jahil to refer to 95% of the Pakistani people; how can we tolerate such a statement? Initially, it was merely my demand that he apologize; now, all Pakistani women want the same thing, and we cannot advance in Pakistan without men’s backing. Here’s a link to the video:
