Zee5 and Zee Zindagi are portals that collaborate with Pakistani content makers and artists, and Pakistani projects are streamed on them. One of the programs that aired on Zee Zindagi was the current controversial series, Barzakh. Prior to this, we had the opportunity to see Abdullahpur Ka Devdas and Mrs & Mr Shamim on Zindagi, both of which received positive feedback. The most recent Barzakh, however, drew a lot of criticism for its LGBT overtones.
Since the previous few days, everyone in the country has had something to say about Barzakh, with the majority of the comments being negative. People felt that normalizing queerness in the media was something they did not want to see, and many were concerned about children viewing such stuff.
Due to the response, Team Zindagi and Team Barzakh have chosen to take Barzakh off from YouTube Pakistan. They extended gratitude to all of the viewers who enjoyed the show. Zee stated that they respect their viewers and do not wish to foster estrangement. The show will be taken off YouTube on August 9th. The Barzakh finale will air today.
