Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia’s husband, Farhan Azmi, has been booked by Goa police for causing a disturbance. The actress has also responded to the incident.
According to Indian media, Goa police reported that Farhan Azmi was traveling in a luxury SUV when locals stopped him for allegedly overspeeding. He called the police for help and reportedly threatened the locals, claiming he had a licensed weapon.
The police arrived at the scene, controlled the situation, and later registered a case against Farhan Azmi and others at the Calangute Police Station for creating chaos and disturbing public peace.
This case comes at a time when Farhan Azmi’s father, Abu Azmi, a politician from the Samajwadi Party and a Maharashtra Assembly member, is facing legal trouble and criticism from Hindu extremists for praising Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.
Reacting on social media, Ayesha Takia claimed her husband was targeted due to his Maharashtra origin. She said her husband and son were harassed and threatened for hours by goons, who even attacked the police that Farhan had called for help.
She added that despite calling the police, a case was filed against her husband instead. She also said that both her husband and son were abused and targeted because they were from Maharashtra.
The actress further stated that she has CCTV footage of the incident, which she will share with the authorities at the right time.
Ayesha Takia has been away from the film industry for a long time but remains active on social media.
Ayesha, now known as Ayesha Farhan, gained fame from Salman Khan’s movie Wanted. She left the film industry after marrying her friend, Farhan Azmi, in 2009 after converting to Islam.
According to Indian media, Farhan Azmi is a businessman involved in the hotel and other industries.
