Unfortunately, Pakistan is not an ideal setting for artists. There are no special allowances, and the government never admits to caring for those who work their entire lives and promote a positive image of the country around the world. Many of our old PTV and film artists have suffered a life of suffering and poverty beyond their prime, and veteran artist Khawaja Saleem has experienced the same.
Khawaja Saleem just lost his toes due to diabetes, and his foot became gangrenous. The star lives in his daughter’s residence. To cope with the circumstances, he sold his own house, car, bicycles, and even the acting honors he had received. He went on to say that no one came to aid him when he was in this situation, and that this type of therapy for an artist can only occur in Pakistan.
