Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and holds a lot of religious significance. Muslims around the world observe Muharram with reverence. It is the month when Muslims cultivate empathy and express their deep sadness and grief over the lives lost in the Battle of Karbala. Muslims mourn the month because of the Shahdah of Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razzi Allah Ta’Aala Unho), our beloved Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) grandson. The Battle of Karbala took place in the month of Muharram, and it resulted in Hussain Ibn-e-Ali’s tragic martyrdom. Many additional relatives and companions of Hazrat Imam Hussain were also killed.

Muslims do not celebrate or host parties during Muharram. Unfortunately, many Pakistani celebrities have started sharing photos from parties, get-togethers, and vacations. Actress Noor Bukhari is continually speaking out against performers who disrespect Muharram. Many actors, including Fatima Effendi, Nida Yasir, Humayun Saeed, Yumna Zaidi, Sonya Hussyn, Sarwat Gillani, and others, have recently posted photos from parties, vacations, and get-togethers.

Noor Bukhari has once again called out the celebs who have been on vacation and attending parties this month. She scribbled, “Wah, Umati.” It’s really terrible to watch people enjoying vacations, parting, and mourning for Imam Hussain a.s., as it reveals who is on Yazeedi Lakhkar and who is on Hussaini. “So simple!” Read her post.
