Saheefa Jabbar Khattak under fire for publicy shaming her maid
Pakistani actress and model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak has landed in controversy after publicly criticizing her house help, Musarrat, over how she spent charity money.
Taking to Instagram, Saheefa shared a detailed post revealing that she gave Rs. 50,000 to Musarrat as financial aid. However, she expressed disappointment that the money was spent within just two days on Eid clothes and a bicycle for her children.
This statement did not sit well with social media users, who argued that once given, the money was Musarrat’s to use as she pleased. Many condemned Saheefa for discussing the matter publicly, calling it disrespectful and humiliating for the underprivileged woman.
Saheefa’s remark, “It hurts to see that when you try to help the less fortunate, they end up wasting money,” sparked widespread criticism, with netizens accusing her of insensitivity.
The backlash continues as people debate whether public figures should dictate how charity recipients spend their money.
One user pointed out, “Writing an essay on Instagram to shame an uneducated woman, in a language she can’t even read, to millions of people, by name—this is beyond disrespectful.”
Instead of apologizing, Saheefa defended her stance in lengthy comments, stating, “If I take you to her house, everything she owns is given to her by me.”
In her post, she further wrote, “I just don’t understand. I feel like overconsumption has become such a cultural norm.” While overconsumption is a valid issue, critics argued that discussing it in the context of someone struggling to meet basic needs was completely misplaced.
Social media users questioned, “If she truly cared about Musarrat’s well-being, why didn’t she speak to her directly instead of turning this into a public spectacle?”
