Selena Gomez’s tears dismissed by Trump’s ‘border tsar’

Donald Trump’s “border tsar,” Tom Homan, strongly defended the effort to deport illegal migrants after singer and actress Selena Gomez shared an emotional video. In the video, Gomez, who has Mexican roots, cried and said, “All my people are being attacked, including children,” and added, “I wish I could do something, but I can’t.” She captioned it with “I’m sorry” and a Mexican flag emoji.

Homan, responding to Gomez and others who disagreed with the crackdown, told Fox News, “If they don’t like it, they should go to Congress to change the law. We’re moving forward with this operation without apology.” Trump had ordered a nationwide immigration crackdown, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported 956 arrests on Sunday.

Selena Gomez deleted her original Instagram video but later responded to critics, saying, “Apparently it’s not OK to show empathy for people.” However, she also removed this follow-up message shortly after.

Meanwhile, the Mexican government is preparing for thousands of deportees expected to arrive from the U.S. as Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy is being reinstated. Tom Homan, a veteran immigration official, told Fox News, “We’re making our community safer. This is for the good of the nation, and we’re moving forward without apologies.” He explained that the arrests focused on “public security threats and national security threats.”

Homan also said that undocumented people caught during raids targeting criminals would also be deported. In another Fox interview, he questioned Gomez’s concerns, asking why there were no tears for the children forced into sex trafficking. He stated, “Half a million children have been trafficked into the U.S., separated from their families, and smuggled by criminal cartels. This administration can’t find over 300,000 of them. Where’s the tears for them?”
