Stop calling me king: Babar Azam requests fans
After the match, Babar Azam asked his fans to stop calling him “king,” saying he hasn’t earned that title yet. He said people can decide what to call him after he retires. He also mentioned that opening the batting is a new role for him, which he took on for the team’s needs.
Babar admitted that his main focus is to score runs, even though he has struggled to finish games recently. Despite his challenges, he remains committed to improving his performance.
He praised Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha for their excellent performances, saying such contributions help boost the team’s confidence.
Babar Azam admitted that while he tries to perform well, he struggles to play long innings after settling in. He shared that he focuses on the present rather than past performances, as thinking too much about failures can affect future games. He also said that successfully chasing big scores helps boost the team’s confidence.
Recently, Babar has been struggling with his batting form. He played some decent knocks in the second Test against South Africa but had poor scores in the home series against the West Indies and ODI matches against New Zealand and South Africa. Pakistan, however, reached the tri-nation series final after a record-breaking chase against South Africa. They will face New Zealand in the final on February 14 in Karachi.
