Why was Mawra Hussain chosen for the Indian film Sanam Teri Kasam out of 215 girls?
Pakistani actress Mawra Hussain made her Bollywood debut in 2016 with the film Sanam Teri Kasam, starring opposite Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane.
The movie, originally released in 2016, was re-released on February 7 this year, breaking its previous records. Initially, it had failed at the box office but gained popularity on OTT platforms, leading to its re-release in cinemas.
In the film, Mawra played Saru, while Harshvardhan Rane played Inder. It is a romantic musical film.
Interestingly, before selecting Mawra, the filmmakers had auditioned and rejected over 200 girls for the role.
According to Indian media, the filmmakers wanted an actress who looked beautiful even while crying, as the movie had many emotional scenes.
Mawra herself revealed that she was chosen because of this unique quality. She was told that around 215 girls had auditioned, but none looked good while crying. Since the film required emotional scenes, this became an important factor.
As per Indian media reports, the filmmakers found Mawra to be the perfect choice, and she was selected for the role.
